I was kinda afraid to watch Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time (despite some good reviews out there)... because generally, movies based on video games kinda suck...
(Eg. DOA, Street Fighter *wince* and Max Payne....)
So, it was a nice surprise that I ended up liking the movie! :)
Ok, to be fair, it's probably not gonna win any Academy Awards, but it was a good mix of:
- swashbuckling action,
- eye candy (Jake Gyllenhaal's body for the ladies, and Gemma Arterton for the guys),
- love,
- drama,
- fantasy (but with a fairly believable storyline),
- humour, and
- decent acting.
(Generally, all the elements of an entertaining movie)
No doubt, there were some cliché moments, but hey! It's a Disney movie lah....
Also, the action/ fight sequences were very entertaining - It was like Parkour, Persian style:
I know I promised not rave about his abs, so I won't say anything... but here's a photo of Jake Gyllenhaal's body for your viewing pleasure :D
(Initially, I didn't think he would fit into the role of the rebellious yet heroic Prince Dastan but I take it all back)
Main characters:
- Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan <--- His name is a tongue twister but mmm, what a hottie! (in this movie)
- Gemma Arterton as Princess Tamina
- Ben Kingsley as Nizam
- Alfred Molina as Sheik Amar <--- *LOL*
- Gísli Örn Garðarsson as Hassansin Leader <--- Creepy looking fella!
So, in summary: I liked the movie (despite Rotten Tomatoes only giving it a 39% rating...). As per the usual, just don't expect it to change your life, and you should probably enjoy it too.

I enjoyed the movie too. Jake is good eye candy in this movie, hehe! But Nizam's thick eyeliner was really scaryyyy!

All I can say is, it is damn hard work lor dem 8 packs. Haven't watched it yet, so can't comment. Played the game growing up though and it rocks!
